Pecan French Toast (Katherine R.)

4 eggs
1/3 cup milk
2/3 cup orange juice
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp vanilla
4 thick slices Italian bread
1/3 cup butter, melted, divided
1/2 cup pecan pieces
2 tbsp orange zest

  • Using whisk, beat eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla.
  • Place bread in large baking dish, pour milk mix over bread, refrigerate overnight. Turn once.
  • Preheat oven 400°. Pour melted butter on cookie sheet, arrange soaked slices on sheet, sprinkle with orange peel and pecans.
  • Bake 20 min. Check slices during last 10 min.
